Winning an Emmy Award!

It was very cool to win a Best Host Emmy 2 weeks ago.

Last year it felt unbelievable when I won my first but this year I had a really warm feeling as I approached the podium and thought, “WOW! With all of the silly things I do or say on the air, the people’s names I forget (that’s the most embarrassing), or the way I jumble my words and think to myself when the camera light goes off, ‘how did I ever get here and why do they let me stay!,” I thought that people are actually seeing through all of that and get what I’m trying to do.

So I went up there and I thanked the Blessed Mother, my husband and the program director at NBC who has been a mentor and then walked off the stage and told one of the hosts I admire the most who has won a ton of Emmys that I was so happy that I beat him!:-) I said it lovingly, of course!

I got home, put the statue on the mantle and remembered I hadn’t gotten my son’s school medical forms filled out and they were overdue and then life continued.

I was just now, leaning on my desk with my head in my hands before I wrote this thinking how exhausted I am today and I have so much work to do. That is something I am certain we all share as moms, I am sure. But that Emmy reminds if I ever catch it out of the corner of my eye as I’m flying out the door that I gotta keep doing the work because it is good work.

You know what I mean?
