Two of the largest insurance companies, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch, underwent bankruptcy last week. In order to save AIG from going in the same direction, the US designed a federeal bailout program worth $700 billion dollars. That's $700 billion dollars that will end up costing most tax-paying americans. How do you feel about this intervention from the government?

I'm a bit disturbed by this bailout. Where is this money going to come from because I'm almost certain I'll be one of those americans that will suffer financially from this. Why should we have to pay for Wall Street's down fall? Merrill Lynch, Lehman Brothers, and AIG mean nothing to me and yet i have to pay for their shortcomings. I AM NOT looking forward to this one.
Be creative!

I do agree...this is certainly a messy situation that is going to affect most, if not all of us. But I do have to say, from the looks of things, the bailout might have been the better solution for our families. Without this investment by the federal government, the stock market could have brought on more of a finacially detrimental situation than ever fathomed...i'm talking great depression status. I'm not savvy on the stock market but i do know that even those of us not associated with wall street are still involved in ways that we are unaware of, like 401 K plans and home loans. I don't know what's going to happen exactly, but I support the bailout because i know the only other option would have taken us to a worse place...
Our children are a reflection of the time we spend with them!
